
Ah, new beginnings, and a season that will surprise you with its abundance. It’s also the time for one of my all-time favourite cabbages: the January King.


JUST IN: apples, horseradish, kale, leeks, loganberries, onions, pears, romanesco cauliflower, savoy cabbage, swede
STAYING IN SEASON: aubergine, beetroot, blackberries, broccoli, carrots, chard, chillies, elderberries, fennel, figs, garlic, globe artichoke, hispi cabbage, kale, leeks, plums, red cabbage, runner beans, sorrel, spinach, sweetcorn, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, white cabbage
LAST MONTH TO ENJOY: bilberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, celery, chervil, cucumber, damsons, field rhubarb, french beans, greengages, mangetout, peaches, peas, peppers, radishes, raspberries, redcurrants, strawberries, summer squash (ie. courgettes and patty pan, also a good month for courgette flowers), tenderstem broccoli
